The presented tyre is marked with 3PMSF symbol (Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake). It means that the tyre meets the EU requirements for winter tyres. The symbol is awarded after thorough tests of a tyre model in terms of snow grip.

A new “Green Performance” winter tyre for city and compact cars developed to perform in all road conditions. Snowcontrol Serie II is the new winter tyre specifically developed for city cars and vehicles from compact to medium segment to guarantee extensive mobility in urban, extra urban and mountain conditions between October and March. With Snowcontrol Serie II Pirelli introduces the Snow Wear Indicator (S.W.I.): three letters marked on the tread pattern to indicate the 4mm tread depth. When it wears off, Pirelli suggests changing winter tyres to keep high safety level on snow. ENERGY™ EFFICIENT: Reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. CLEAN AIR: Made from eco-compatible materials that minimise environmental impact, both at the production stage and throughout the life of the tyre. LOW NOISE: Already complies with the 2012 EU Directive on the reduction of noise, resulting in improved driving comfort. The I.B.S. (Interactive Brickwork Siping) technology used for the sipe pattern improves performance on wet and dry surfaces. It gives a feeling of safety in extreme conditions and reduces braking distance. The two wide lateral channels on the directional tread offer greater safety in the wet whilst the innovative siped longitudinal channels ensure traction for precise steering and improved “grip” on snow. Features: - Directional tread pattern design with wide longitudinal grooves - Optimised pitch sequence - Thin sipe technology: reduced distance between tread's sipes - Siped longitudinal grooves Functions: - Improved water and slush expulsion - Reduction of high frequency noise - Wider contact area and compact tread pattern - More effective "snow on snow" friction effect Customer benefits: - Reduced risk of aquaplaning - Excellent comfort and driving pleasure - Excellent handling and braking in all road conditions - Increased traction on snowy surfaces

W 190 Snowcontrol Serie II Reviews

Had these fitted to our Renault Modus Automatic in December 2010, 2 days later it snowed like H**L(a lot in Essex), our little car made it up and down hills when almost all other vehicles were stuck, the control of our car was so precise and breaking was just Fantastic, I tested emergency breaking in about 4" (10cm)of snow/ice on a back road (not even on a map and no other road users in sight) it was fantastic. We then sold our Modus to a friend including the winter tyres) and bought A Grand Modus Automatic, I purchased Avon Ice Touring for the winter of 2011/12. NEVER AGAIN ! they just didn't feel safe so it was hello *-bay. I have just bought another set of Pirelli's and know that my family will be a lot safer if we get a bad winter in the UK. I fit them to spare steel wheels. Being a retired professional driver (IAM member)PCV,HGV1 etc, I am of the opinion that winter tyres should be made compulsory in the UK.
Been driving these Pirellis for six winter seasons and about 18000kms so far and intend to drive them for couple of seasons more. They have always been a bit noisy, but that's about the only thing I can complain about. Wear is good, dry grip OK, wet and snow grip fantastic even after five seasons of use. Very pleased with it. Definitely would buy again a Pirelli winter tyre, and can recommend them to everyone. They are worth the price.
Bad tyre for those money.
